Sometimes Kalisha says things that crack me up. They are funny, but what makes them even funnier is that she says them with such seriousness. She isn't trying to be funny...she is saying exactly what is in her head. She was watching a DVD, but I didn't hear any sound. I asked if she had it muted. She answered, "No. The DVD player isn't working right. I have the subtitles on." I asked if she intended to watch the entire movie that way. She said, "Yes. I am seeing what it's like for a deaf person to watch a movie."
We decided to order from Pizza Hut. I was giving the order on the phone when he asked what kind of crust I wanted. I turned to Kalisha and asked what kind of crust. She thought for a few seconds and then said, "I guess I want hand held."
I told the young man that she wanted hand held, but I preferred that he not hold it too long and to please make it hand tossed. She usually looks at me and asks, "What's so funny?"
I can't say that Kalisha doesn't have a sense of humor; she just doesn't know that she can be humorous. Most of the things that make me laugh are just statements as far as she is concerned.
Gloria,
ReplyDeleteThanks for your sense of humor. It is my flavor of dryness. I am looking forward to the book.
