Cooking Class Update

I promised an update, so here it is. Kalisha washed her hair, took a shower, and got ready to go to the Friday cooking class.

Cutting Veggies for Cooking Class

I asked if she was excited.

"A little," she said, "but I'm tired and I really don't want to go."

I assured her it would be a good time with some new friends and there would only be 5 or 6 people there (she knew at least 3 of them) and she still didn't have to eat chicken if that was what they chose to make.

She even ate it and enjoyed it.

Woo-Hoo!

  2. Hi Gloria, I saw a post of yours that was sent out by Ruby for women and I popped over here to comment. While I never did find what Ruby for women sent out, I was intrigued by your blog.
I have worked in individual homes providing care for adults with special needs for over 6 years now. I have not provided care for an adult with autism though, well at least not high functioning autism.
It's awesome that at your encouragement she was able to experience something new and enjoy it!

  3. I am amazed when I read about people that go the distance. Life's not just about surviving the day, but making it meaningful. I'm glad you're there to help your daughter enjoy hers.

  5. Great blog and way to go expressing your feelings. I have a df that had a disabled boy (he died 5 yrs ago) and he was the center of her life. It made my day when I went to visit that he would smile at me. Glad I found your blog in a LinkedIn group.
